Josh Risdon Socceroos
The under-pressure full back was Australia's best player while several others were solid in a dominant yet profligate performance

It took a last-gasp equaliser from Massimo Luongo for Australia to nick a result against South Korea at the death despite dominating possession and territorial advantage.

Several Socceroos took their opportunity to cement their spots in Graham Arnold's Asian Cup plans, while a couple of veterans surprised with sub par performances.

Two of Arnold's three substitutes made signficant cases to start the next competitive match giving Arnold a good headache with the UAE tournament in little over a month.

Check out Goal's ratings for every Australian player below.

  • Maty Ryan Socceroos

    Mat Ryan

    Rating: 8/10

A quiet night with not a huge amount to do but made an absolutely world class save from Ju Se-Jong's free kick to keep Australia in the game.

Falls short of a nine because of the indecision with Trent Sainsbury as Hwang Ui-Jo streaked through to score the opener for South Korea.

  • Josh Risdon Socceroos

    Josh Risdon

    Rating: 9/10

Under significant pressure for his position from Sydney FC's Rhyan Grant, Risdon put in a man of the match performance as he was an quality outlet going forward and cutting inside but also looking defensively solid.

  • Mark Milligan Socceroos 2018

    Mark Milligan

    Rating: 6/10

In his first match as outright senior skipper, Milligan put in a solid performance but did give the ball away at times. These errors would likely be punished by a more experienced team.

  • Trent Sainsbury Socceroos

    Trent Sainsbury

    Rating: 4/10

Was caught out for Korea's opening goal with poor positioning and awareness allowing Hwang to get in behind.

Looked shaky and off the pace in the first half but improved after the break.

Doesn't look to be benefiting from a lack of game time in the Netherlands.

  • Aziz Behich Socceroos

    Aziz Behich

    Rating: 6/10

Was defensively reliable but too often squandered quality attacking opportunites either by poor delivery or failing to get around a defender as he pushed forward.

  • Massimo Luongo

    Massimo Luongo

    Rating: 7/10

Put in a relatively anonymous performance in midfield but was on the spot to tap home and snatch Australia a draw.

  • Aaron Mooy Australia 2017-18

    Aaron Mooy

    Rating: 7/10

Worked tirelessly and got himself all about the pitch but failed to make a quality incision for Australia to score and also missed a difficult volley chance on goal.

  • Tom Rogic

    Tom Rogic

    Rating: 6/10

Was involved in everything for Australia in an attacking sense but wasted too many opportunities with long range shots and failed to make key passes that you expect from a player of his quality.

  • Mathew Leckie Socceroos

    Mathew Leckie

    Rating: 7/10

Looked dangerous down the right flank, particularly when he cut inside on his defender. Needs to get more goals for this ability.

  • Robbie Kruse Thailand v Australia World Cup qualifying 15112016

    Robbie Kruse

    Rating: 4/10

Was on the ball plenty in the first half but lacks a yard of pace and quality to make things happen.

  • Jamie Maclaren Socceroos 2018

    Jamie Maclaren

    Rating: 6/10

Worked tirelessly helping to lead Australia's attacking press but didn't get himself into enough goal scoring situations and the jury remains out on whether he is the answer.

  • Awer Mabil Socceroos

    Awer Mabil: 7/10

Immediately injected enthusiasm and unpredictability into Australia's attack. Will come into starting team consideration shortly.

    Martin Boyle: 7/10

A lively debut for the Scottish born attacker. His pressure on the goalkeeper forced the equaliser and he will be a valuable squad member for the team going forward.

    Tomi Juric: N/A

Only came on for five minutes. Had one chance to thread a through ball to Boyle, but it lacked quality. Appears to be behind at least Maclaren in the pecking order.
