African transfer target XI
Goal pick a Dream Team of African players who have been linked with a move during the summer transfer window

  • Andre Onana Ajax 2019

    Andre Onana

Onana’s time-wasting may have inadvertently cost Ajax a spot in the Champions League final, but the Cameroon stopper still ended the season as a double winner with the Dutch giants.

Now, the attention turns to the future, with Barcelona having been linked with a move for the keeper, who is a La Masia product.

However, a more realistic destination for the keeper might be Manchester United, with the Daily Record suggesting that the Red Devils are considering Onana as a potential replacement for David De Gea.

  • Youcef Atal Nice

    Youcef Atal

Prospective suitors for right-back Atal have been told categorically by OGC Nice coach Patrick Vieira that the wideman is not for sale.

However, everyone has their price, and Chelsea may well push Les Aiglons if indeed they are allowed to sign players this summer.

Another club linked with a move for the right-sider are Tottenham Hotspur, with reports suggesting that the Champions League finalists are willing to sell Kieran Trippier to Italy to fund a move for the North African.

  • Eric Bailly Manchester United 2018-19

    Eric Bailly

There have been conflicting reports about Bailly’s prospects at Manchester United.

According to some sources, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will give all of his centre-backs the chance to prove themselves next season, although some Red Devils supporters may already feel that the defenders on the club’s books have already had the chance to demonstrate their qualities at Old Trafford.

However, Bailly remains linked with a move to Arsenal, with a fee of between £20 and 30 million mooted for the Ivorian defender, who will miss the Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

  • Kalidou Koulibaly Napoli 2018-19

    Kalidou Koulibaly

The Senegal centre-back has long been tipped with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea having been linked to his signature.

Manchester United are the latest giant understood to be considering a move for the powerful stopper.

However, Napoli will not accept a bid of anything below the release clause of €150 million (£133m) set for the defender, according to Corriere dello Sport.

United are thought to be ready to pay around €95 million (£85m) for the 27-year-old, with Real Madrid also thought to be interested in the player.

  • Faouzi Ghoulam Napoli

    Faouzi Ghoulam

Ghoulam’s stock isn’t as high as it once was, with the Napoli full-back having endured injury misery over recent years.

A year ago, he was linked with a move to Manchester United, where he was once considered an ideal replacement for Luke Shaw.

Sources in Italy have suggested that he’s again on the radar of a European giant.

This time, it’s Juventus who are eyeing the left-back, with Maurizio Sarri keen on a reunion with his former stalwart in Turin.

  • Wilfried Zaha Crystal Palace 2018-19

    Wilfried Zaha

As with a few other players on this list, Zaha could be the subject of a tussle between a few London heavyweights.

The Ivorian attacker enjoyed another fine campaign with Crystal Palace this season, but surely it’s time for time to try his hand at a Premier League giant once again.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with a move for the West Africa, and the latter may have the advantage considering the Gunners’ failure to land Champions League football for next season.

  • Thomas Partey

    Thomas Partey

The Ghana powerhouse is set to be a key man for the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations this summer, and one or two European giants will surely be monitoring his progress intently during the West Africans’ campaign in Egypt.

It’s understood that it would take £43.5 million for Atletico Madrid to part ways with the midfield powerhouse, who’s another player to have been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Arsenal are also understood to be monitoring the situation, and Partey could be the influential presence in the heart of the park the Gunners have been craving.

  • Hakim Ziyech Ajax Real Madrid

    Hakim Ziyech

Ajax have revealed that Ziyech will leave the club during the transfer window, having been promised the chance to speak to prospective employers ahead of the campaign.

Some of Europe’s giants have been linked with a move for the Morocco international, with Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool some of the clubs quoted with interest in the playmaker.

Ziyech is Ajax’s reigning Player of the Year, having won a league and cup double with the Amsterdam giants this season.

  • Nicolas Pepe and Serge Aurier of the Cote d'Ivoire

    Nicolas Pepe

Similarly, LOSC Lille coach Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Pepe will leave Les Dogues this summer, so it’s just a case of where he moves, rather than if he switches club.

A fee of £69 million could represent a bargain for the wideman, who became the first player since Eden Hazard to strike 20+ goals in a Ligue 1 season for Lille as he fired them to the Champions League this season.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for the Cote d’Ivoire international.

  • Sadio Mane Liverpool Champions League final 2019

    Sadio Mane

While Mane has reaffirmed his desire to remain at Liverpool, having played a key role in their Champions League triumph this season, Real Madrid are being increasingly linked with the forward.

Los Blancos would be made to pay to get their man, with Mane having signed a five-year deal at Anfield to keep him at the club until 2023.

However, as they’ve demonstrated in the past, Real can be particularly persistent when it comes to getting their man.

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsenal 2018-19

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

After an impressive 18 months in England, Aubameyang is the subject of interest from the Chinese Super League.

However, Arsenal will knock back any offers from China for the Golden Boot winner, according to the Evening Standard.

The Gunners striker is reported to be the subject of interest from Asia, with a lucrative contract—estimated at £300,000 per week set to be put to him.

Those at Emirates Stadium have no intention of selling, though, and will do all they can to keep the prolific frontman in North London.
