Goal looks at key players who will have an impact for the East Africans against the Sparrow Hawks in Monday's Africa Cup of Nations clash

  • Ian Otieno of Harambee Stars and Kenya vs Egypt.

The custodian is expected to start in goal following Patrick Matasi's injury against the seven-time Afcon champions Egypt. The 26-year old went on to put a brave fight and made decent saves to keep Kenya in the game after being introduced as a substitute.

Otieno should remain vocal on Monday and must organize his defence well to ensure the visitors have no chance. However, he must remain vigilant to ensure he is not caught off-guard with long-range shots.

  • Eric Ouma of Kenya and Harambee Stars vs Mozambique.

The left-back was at fault for Egypt's goal on Thursday after his short backpass was intercepted. It was a rear mistake from the dependable defender who gives everything on the pitch.

On Monday, the 23-year old has promised to make amends for his mistake, meaning he will up his game and fans should see the best of Ouma.

This means more pressure for the visitors, because the full-back is, on his day, the type of player who bursts forward with ease.

  • Kenya's and Harambee Stars Lawrence Juma (r) in action against Egypt p;layer Mohamed Afsha.

This surely must be Juma's year!

Three starts for Harambee Stars in as many matches in different competitions is a mean achievement for the player, who came to limelight three seasons ago.

Juma never tires, he runs the show in midfield regardless of his opponent, and the Gor Mahia man will be required to act as a link between the defenders and attack yet again.

  • CLIFF NYAKEYA of Harambee Stars and Kenya vs ERNESTO MERCILINO of Mozambique.

    Cliff Nyakeya

The 24-year old came on as a substitute for the injured Ayub Timbe against Egypt after half an hour, and made an immediate impact for the visitors, contributing the assist for Michael Olunga's equaliser.

The FC Masr winger is a competitive player, and he should again deputise for Timbe after Francis Kimanzi confirmed that the China-based wideman would be absent for the Togo bout.

  • Francisco Muchanga of Mozambique tackles Michael Olunga of Kenya and Harambee Stars.

    Michael Olunga

The towering striker scored his third goal in three competitive games in Kenya's 1-1 draw with Egypt, and the former Gor Mahia striker is undoubtedly Harambee Stars' main man in attack at the moment.

On Monday, all eyes will be on him; Togo are unlikely to give Kenya too many chances, but it's imperative that the Stars take the opportunities that come their way.

Prior to his goal against the Pharaohs, Olunga had missed two great opportunities, and he will not always be able to get away with such profligacy.
