Goal looks at five players who can have a positive impact for K'Ogalo against Ingwe in Sunday's key KPL clash

  • Gor Mahia keeper David Mapigano with KPL Super Cup trophy.

    Robert Mapigano

The goalkeeper started his Gor Mahia career on a low note, conceding three goals in his first two games but has grown in confidence since then. The Tanzanian has since kept three clean sheets in the six matches played.

On Sunday, he has to be at his best to ensure he stops Ingwe from finding the back of the net. The shot-stopper has to organise his defence well and make saves when needed.

  • Dennis Mukaisi and Joash Onyango of Gor Mahia

    Joash Onyango

The 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Most Valuable Player is arguably the most experienced at the back. The defender gives his best in games and will be required to do so on again Sunday.

The main thing will be to ensure he stops AFC Leopards' attackers from getting closer to Mapigano. Onyango is well known for his aggressive defending and zeal at the back.

  • TOBIAAS OTIENO of Gor Mahia v William WADRI of Bandari FC.

    Tobias Otieno

The former Sony Sugar midfielder has been a hit since joining K'Ogalo at the beginning of the season. The 21-year old's intelligence on and off-the-ball movement is second to none in the division.

On Sunday, the influential Otieno has to run the show and ensure Ingwe do not dominate in midfield. The midfielder will also be required to provide cover for the back four and help in initiating attacks in favour of his team.

  • Norman Werunga of Gor Mahia vs Kenneth Muguna of Gor Mahia vs Zoo Kericho

    Kenneth Muguna

Of late the captain has been under pressure on and off the pitch owing to negative reports surrounding him. The 2019/20 season remains his best start and will be aiming at extending his form.

Muguna has to step up and help K'Ogalo win Sunday's derby. The soft-spoken midfielder will be relied on in the matter of creating chances and finish those that come his way.

  • Nicholas Kipkirui of Gor Mahia v Hussein Dey.

    Nicholas Kipkirui

Kipkirui has always been a thorn for Ingwe defenders and Sunday provides another opportunity for him to shine. He will most probably come against his former teammate at Zoo, Isaac Kipyegon, and he has to beat him.

The good thing about the 23-year-old Kipkirui is his ability to create chances and take them as well. Gor Mahia can rely on him against Ingwe and for sure, he will deliver.
