Goal takes a look at how South African players fared against Sudan in Sunday's Afcon 2021 qualifier at Orlando Stadium

  • South Africa v Morocco July 2019 Ronwen Williams

    Ronwen Williams

6/10 | Williams wasn't busy for the home side throughout the game but he did enough to marshal his defence and ensure effective communication.
  • Thapelo Morena - Bafana Bafana vs Sudan

    Thapelo Morena

7/10 | The speedy full-back started on the right-hand side of Bafana's defence and he was impressive as he gave Sudan a good run for their money, especially high up the field.
  • Andy Yiadom of Ghana challenges Sfiso Hlanti of South Africa, November 2019

    Sfiso Hlanti

6/10 | Hlanti was hardly troubled on the left-hand side of the team's defence but the first-half saw him go forward more as Bafana used that side of the pitch to poke holes on the Sudanese defence.
  • Erick Mathoho - Bafana Bafana

    Erick Mathoho

6/10 | Tower came in for Buhle Mkhwanazi and he never put his foot wrong throughout the encounter as he stopped Sudan from testing Williams.
  • Thulani Hlatshwayo, South Africa, July 2019

    Thulani Hlatshwayo

6/10 | Tyson got his mojo back alongside Mathoho as he led by example and read the game well to deny Sudan the breathing space.
  • Dean Furman Bafana Bafana v Libya, September 2018

    Dean Furman

6.5/10 | Dean Furman was made to work extra hard in midfield and he was vital in Bafana's goal as he played the ball to Percy Tau before Phiri scored. He also went forward well in the second half.
  • Kamohelo Mokotjo - Bafana Bafana

    Kamohelo Mokotjo

7/10 | Mokotjo dictated terms quite well and firmly in midfield. His passing game made Bafana play and kill the confidence of the Sudan players, especially in the second half.
  • Percy Tau - Bafana Bafana

    Percy Tau

7/10 | Tau was given enough room to dazzle the Sudanese team and his combination play alongside Phiri and Serero made him play to his full potential. He was instrumental in the build-up to the goal.
  • Lebo Phiri - Bafana Bafana

    Lebogang Phiri

8/10 | Phiri produced a man of the match performance and the only goal of the game in style. He smashed his left-footed shot into the top corner in the first half.
  • Thulani Serero, Bafana Bafana, October 2018

    Thulani Serero

6/10 | Serero's return to the starting line-up was welcomed by many, and the player didn't disappoint as he took matters into his own hands to initiate attacking moves.
  • Lebo Mothiba - Bafana Bafana vs Sudan

    Lebo Mothiba

4/10 | Mothiba had a very disappointing game overall after some glaring missed chances in the first-half. There were no surprises when he was eventually substituted.
  • Bradley Grobler - Bafana Bafana

    Bradley Grobler

4/10 | Grobler came on as a second-half substitute but really did little to trouble Sudan except for that one time when he managed to get the ball into the back only to be ruled offside.
  • Lebogang Manyama - Bafana Bafana

    Lebogang Manyama

4.5/10 | Manyama made his return to the team for the first time in two years and he showed glimpses of his club form by running at defenders on the right-hand side of the pitch.
