Zoo Kericho: Why we cannot stop players from leaving this transfer window

Kenyan Premier League side Zoo Kericho has lost several players in the current transfer window.

Among those, who have left are striker Nicholas Kipkirui, who has joined Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards man Isaac Kipyegon and Michael Madoya, who is on the verge of joining the eleven-time league champions Tusker FC. Zoo owner Ken Ochieng has explained to Goal the reason behind the team's failure to retain those players.

“It is not our wish to let the best players leave, but circumstances sometimes do not allow it. We cannot compete with some clubs financially, they have given better offers that we cannot match and that is the reason why we had to let them go and face other challenges.

“Yes, for Madoya and Kipkirui, their contracts expire by the end of next month, so what we will get is a development fee. We will have a meeting later on to discuss the way forward.”
