They will be back in the Champions League next season after failing to progress past the group phase in the current campaign.

This was after their best run in the African elite club competition in 2016 when they reached the last four of the competition.

Zesco assistant coach Alfred Lupiya said they are putting on hold their league crown triumph to focus on the rest of their league games.

“We are excited about this win but we won’t celebrate until the last game of the season. We need to win the remaining games then we will celebrate,” Lupiya was quoted as saying by Cafonline.

Joining Zesco in the Champions League next season would be Nkana FC who will finish as runners-up even if they lose their remaining two matches.

Zesco and Nkana clash in the Barclays Cup on Saturday.
