Zambia coach Bruce Mwape was excited by his side's ruthless display after crushing Equatorial Guinea 5-0 in their Africa Women's Cup of Nations opener at the Cape Coast Stadium.
A brace by Racheal Kundananji together with strikes from Grace Chanda, Ireen Lungu and Mary Mwakapila handed the Shepolopolo an emphatic first ever win in their history of the competition.
Mwape, who led the team in their debut outing at Namibia 2014, is upbeat about his side's chance of consolidating their winning start when they tackle holders Nigeria on Wednesday.
"I want to say it was a good result but my overall opinion is we still need to improve," Mwape told the media.
"All we wanted was maximum points for our first game to give morale. Mostly I want to give credit to the players for doing what was required of them on the field.
"This chapter is closed we shall now prepare for Nigeria. The bottom line is that football is played 90 minutes.
"We are not playing names of teams and if people think Nigeria is untouchable well and good. Our mission here is to qualify to the World Cup," he continued.
While, Equatorial Guinea coach Jean-Paul Mpila accepted the defeat, he blamed Sunday's humiliation against Zambia on their poor preparations.
"We just came here to participate as we had limited time to prepare for the tournament," he said.
"Many will be surprised why we lost but this happened because we only had four days to prepare immediately we were reinstated by Caf," he added.
"We came to honour the competition with our participation to avoid a ban from Caf. Another ban from Caf on us will be worse with the existing ban from Fifa," he said.
"We had problems with Caf, we were 95% ready and we worked together as a team. Congratulations to our opponents [Zambia] they worked hard and deserved the win. I accept the defeat," he concluded.
