Yakou Meite scores first brace of the season as Reading defeat Millwall

Yakou Meite scored his first league goals of the season as Reading defeated Millwall 3-1 at the Madejski Stadium in Saturday’s English Championship game.

Having lost their previous two outings to Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion, Paul Clement’s men nicked their second home victory to return to winning ways.

The winger who spent last term on loan with Sochaux made a crucial impact in the encounter scoring in both half, with his first coming off Tyler Blackett’s cross in the 28th minute.

Jed Wallace levelled for the visitors six minutes later before Sam Baldock restored the lead for the Royals from the penalty spot.

And Meite made the points safe with four minutes left to play.

The Ivorian featured for the entire duration while struggling Nigeria international Sone Aluko was an unused substitute.

With the result, Reading are 19th in the log with 12 points from 13 games and will be aiming to build on this impressive result when they take on Birmingham City on Tuesday.
