Al Sadd captain Xavi Hernandez believes it was important for the team to end the season with a title after they won the 2017 Emir Cup with a 2-1 result over Al-Rayyan.
“We have clinched an important achievement with this triumph, winning the most important title of this season,” he said after the encounter.
“This win came as a result of the efforts of the group, from every member of this team. We are happy with this win over Al-Rayyan in the final. Al-Rayyan played a great match, in fact a great season and they are one of the best teams in Qatar,” he added.
The Barcelona legend also expressed his delight for the fans who were eager for more silverware.

The midfield maestro was quick to laud the efforts of his team-mates during what he believes was an intense encounter.
“Al-Sadd players were stars throughout the match. Every player did well; we put in great effort throughout the 90 minutes against a difficult opponent.”
