The UEFA Champions League has produced some of the greatest goals in football history.

But which were the best? Goal have been putting the question to some keen observers, asking them to debate which was their Goal of the Week, brought to you by Nissan.

The series kicks off with a look at two of the greatest bicycle kicks the European stage has ever witnessed — Mauro Bressan’s remarkable strike for Fiorentina versus Barcelona in 1999, and Mario Mandzukic’s stunner for Juventus versus Real Madrid in the 2017 UCL final.

Cheeky Sport Joel and Cheeky Sport Dave sat down ahead of Matchday 1 to relieve a couple of the most memorable moments from the continent’s elite club competition.

Mandzukic fired his unstoppable volley on the grandest stage of all, with his side trailing the most storied team in the competition’s history, Real Madrid, in the final.

But does it beat Bressan’s astonishing piece of improvisation, leaping to send a spectacular shot looping over a helpless Francesc Arnau, who ended up in the back of the net himself?

All week we will be discussing what makes a great goal and you can have your say by voting for which of these two you think was the best.

Don't forget you can vote for Goal of the Week from Thursday morning with Nissan!
