Wafa appoint Liewig as new coach

Ghana Premier League side Wafa have confirmed the appointment of Frenchman Patrick Liewig as new head coach.

The 67-year-old replaces Klavs Rassmusen who resigned from his position last month following a poor run in the top-flight, after failing to record a win in five games and lying in the drop zone.

Liewig will be working with assistant coach Moro Ibrahim, who led the outfit in the interim to go six games unbeaten, including a 5-0 drubbing of Dreams FC and a 3-2 away win over Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast.

Wafa currently sit fourth on the log with 18 points, three points behind leaders Ashanti Gold.

Liewig will be in the dugout when they play giants Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on May 23.

He has previously had stints with Club Africain, Stade Tunisian, MC Alger, EGS Gasfa and SC Simba.
