The football-loving musician was asked to take part in assigning the likes of his beloved Celtic their next matches and livened up a usually dull task

Sunday's Scottish Cup fifth-round draw provided more entertainment than usual, largely thanks to the presence of veteran pop star Rod Stewart.

The great Celtic fan, who was at his peak in the 1970s, scoring UK No.1s with 'Maggie May', 'Sailing' and 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?', among others, was asked to draw the home sides, while former Bhoys centre-back Alan Stubbs was picking the away teams.

Stewart's performance, which starts around the 18-minute mark below, was lively to say the least, and he looked particularly delighted to have picked his beloved Hoops a home tie. To add to the sense of farce, in the aftermath, Stubbs got the No.9 ball mixed up with a No.6, causing Morton to initially be paired with the Scottish champions as opposed to Inverness.

It seemed that Rod might have enjoyed the hospitality at Airdrie's New Broomfield Stadium just a little too much as Celtic overcame League One side Albion Rovers 3-0 – but at least it made a usually bland spectacle worth watching.
