The Super Eagles legend has lauded his former club notwithstanding their Champions League exit against the Old Lady

Victor Ikpeba described his pride at the performance of Monaco despite crashing out of the Caf Champions League following a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Juventus on Tuesday.

Mario Mandzukic and Dani Alves goals silenced Leonardo Jardim's men 2-1 in the second leg as Kylian Mbappe’s 69th minute goal counted for nothing.

But Monaco who featured for the Stade Louis II giants between 1993-99 still found time to praise the players' performances despite the result, tweeting: "I'm proud of my Monaco side. They have done so well, getting to the semi-finals. They have done their best.

''Despite the pain of last night, still proudly AS Monaco. We return to fight another day.''

''Congratulations Juventus.  Well deserved.''

Juventus will be hoping to emerge as champions for the third time when they battle the winners between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid on June 3 in Cardiff.
