Ushuru opened up a four-point gap between them and second-placed Western Stima following a 3-2 win over the latter in an FKF National Super League match.

The match came with a fair share of drama and despite both teams missing from the spot, fans at the Ruaraka Grounds were treated to some piece of beautiful football in the game that produced four of the five goals, coming from set pieces situations.

Evans Maliachi gave Ushuru the lead in the 24th minute after tucking in from a free kick. Ushuru’s lead, however, only lasted six minutes when Erastus Mwaniki restored parity before the victors went ahead through Fan Ngaira to hand his side a slim 2-1 lead at halftime.

Stima injected more power and Kevin Okoth restored parity with five minutes left to the final whistle.

But the drama unfolded after Ushuru won a freekick just outside the box. Oscar Mbugua calmly slotted home the match-winner.

In another match played at the same venue, Kangemi All-Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by the visiting Nakuru All-Stars.

Ivan Anguyo gave the hosts the lead from the spot, with Geoffrey Maina restoring parity in similar fashion to ensure a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, St Joseph Youth beat 3-1 GFE 105 in Nakuru thanks to Daniel Kamau, Adam Fadhili and John Elembo goals. Hezron Ochieng scored the consolation for his side.

In Kisumu, hosts Kisumu All-Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Coast Stima.
