Wellington Phoenix have further strengthened their defensive stocks with the return of talented full back Jacob Tratt, only days after the acquisition of former Premier League centre-half Steven Taylor.

The Covert Agent can reveal Tratt has decided to re-join Mark Rudan at the New Zealand club, having previously been coached by him at Sydney United in 2016.

After impressing in the NPL, the 23-year-old right back was signed by Wellington for the 2016-17 A-League season and made his mark, scoring against Melbourne Victory in January and holding down a first team position.

Personal reasons saw Tratt cut his contract short with the Phoenix after his breakthrough campaign, with the Dubbo-born player not returning until he was picked by NSW NPL side Sutherland Sharks this year.

Tratt's return compliments the signing of experienced 32-year-old Taylor, who spent 13 years playing for Premier League side Newcastle United.
