Newcastle Jets will imminently announce the signing of Wellington Phoenix midfielder Matthew Ridenton.

The Covert Agent can reveal the 22-year-old will put pen to paper with the Hunter Valley club shortly and an announcement will be made public.

Rumours have been circulating for the past few weeks about Ridenton's future, with the NZ Herald first reporting Newcastle's interest on May 5.

Ridenton is keen to join former Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick at the Jets to continue furthering his football development.
