Subrata Bhattacharya, a respected former national team captain and two time National Football League (NFL) winning coach, has wielded the sword of ire against the former Blue Tigers' record goal scorer Bhaichung Bhutia.

"Indian football is suffering because of Bhaichung Bhutia," expressed Bhattacharya, in a vitriolic take down of the former East Bengal and Mohun Bagan captain, to Bengali daily Aajkaal.

It must be understood however, that Bhutia has not been associated to any player agency in the recent past. It had ben the case earlier, but since his assession to the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) Technical Committee post, he has since distanced himself from all activities of the agency. He himself clarified the position on Twitter a fortnight ago.

This fact however didn't stop the former Arjuna Awardee, Bhattacharya, who took a no holds barred approach to his withering dictum on the 1998 Arjuna award recipient Bhutia by stating, "I have heard that he runs a player agency. He has been removed from the AIFF Technical Committee."

The former Mariners' coach, under whose tutelage Bhutia had played, also alleged player favouritism when selections are under course for the Indian national team.

"Debjit Majumder is not in included in the national team because Bhaichung is the agent of Subrata Paul. This is very unfair," concluded the 64 year-old.
