Sofapaka closing in on Zanzibar midfielder

Sofapaka are closing in on Zanzibar international Abdul Aziz Makame.

Makame, 21 rose to the limelight last December after guiding Zanzibar Heroes to the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup final where they lost to host Kenya on post-match penalties.

The Jangòmbe FC midfielder could become the fifth foreign player in Sofapaka's ranks this season.

The deal, Goal understand, could be sealed anytime this week.

“We have been talking to the club for a while now and we are almost coming to an agreement. The talks are positive and I am certain we will land the player. He will be our final signing of the January window,” Sofapaka Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Kayoyi was quoted on the club’s portal.

Other new acquisition by Sofapaka this season are Vitalis Akumu (Western Stima), left-back Yussuf Mohammed (Muhoroni Youth), former AFC Leopards keeper Ian Otieno, Kariobangi Sharks duo of Ibrahim Kitawi and Elli Asieche, Jackson Saleh, strikers Stephen Waruru (Ulinzi Stars) and Kepha Aswani (Nakumatt) as well as midfielder Teddy Osok on loan from Gor Mahia.

Sofapaka are currently beefing their squad as they prepare to challenge for the 2018 Kenyan Premier League title.
