Socceroos Watch: Mabil strikes again, Rogic claims more silverware

A solid night at the office for Australians in Europe

It was a successful night for Socceroos in action with Awer Mabil bagging his fifth goal in 14 league appearances this season and Tom Rogic playing his part as Celtic lifted the Scottish League Cup.

Mabil scored inside three minutes for Midtjylland in a 2-1 win over Randers as he darted onto a through ball before calmly chipping the keeper.

The goal continued Mabil's excellent club form with the Aussie bagging a double and two assists in the last match prior to the international break.

That performance saw him earn his first start for the green and gold against Lebanon in a 3-0 win last month.

Rogic, who was rested for that game, has meanwhile claimed more silverware in Scotland as he played 64 minutes for the Hoops in a 1-0 win over Aberdeen in the League Cup final.

The Socceroo struck the post in a lively first-half which saw Celtic take the lead in injury-time via Ryan Christie.

Having joined the Hoops in 2013, Rogic has now won eight pieces of silverware.

It wasn't such a good night for Australian defenders Aziz Behich and Trent Sainsbury, who were once again unused subs in a 2-1 loss for PSV.
