The Amakhosi legend says coach Giovanni Solinas is now settled and has a chance to win the Telkom Knockout Cup trophy

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Rudolph Seale has urged Amakhosi to win the Macufe Cup because that will help them get used to winning trophies at Naturena.

The former Bafana Bafana left-back said the Fifa break will help coaach Giovanni Solinas to rectify their errors as they prepare for the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on October 27.

However, they will first meet Black Leopards in the Telkom Knockout Cup on Sunday.

“I think this break gives the coach a chance to revisit their plans and look at how they lost to Polokwane City because it's not about the absence of supporters which led to the defeat,” Seale told Goal.

“They are going to the Macufe Cup and even if he had his regular players such as (Itumeleng) Khune, he wouldn't play them and so is Pirates if they have a friendly – I think this break will do both teams good before the derby,” said Seale.

“For me, it is difficult to predict the result based on recent form because a derby is a different match altogether,” he explained.

“It all depends on which team has players that can rise to the occasion on the day and despite the loss to Polokwane, Solinas is used to the PSL standards and the club as well as his players now,” noted the legend.

The Soweto-born former player believes Amakhosi did not bring their top game against Rise and Shine and has urged them to treat every opponent equally.

“It will be wise for him to look at how they lost to Polokwane City and aim to fix it during the break because after this break the Derby will come knocking,” he responded.

“I just wish and hope that these kids will know that to a team like Polokwane, it becomes a pyschological boost to face a team like Chiefs. This means they must not take any team for granted because Chiefs is a team to beat,” he reflected.

“I don't think they lost the game because of the punishment for crowd misbehaviour. The match is won or lost on the field of play,” he continued.

As Solinas prepares to face his predecessor in Steve Komphela, who will lead Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday, Seale says Chiefs must keep winning regardless of how big or small the trophy.

“They face (Black) Leopards in the Telkom Cup and that pushes them to also do well because they have a duty to win trophies,” he added.

“They have to start with the Macufe then beat Leopards. I know there is this thing that Chiefs excels in the Macufe and it counts for nothing, but winning it will boost them,” urged the 51-year-old.

“They must win it. I remember we used to play the Sparletta and other cups which had no impact on the league and history, but we won them and we got used to winning games and trophies,” responded Seale.

“The supporters will be back to support the team on the stands and I hope they have learned that their actions are not helping the club, the players and the entire football industry,” he concluded.
