The Masandawana coach praised his new players, but does not believe Khama Billiat deserved the man of the match award

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosmane has lamented their 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions failed to bag a win in their opening match of the season, and Mosimane feels they should've wrapped up the game, while questioning the man of the match award which was handed to Khama Billiat.

“It was tight... a difficult game. Chiefs are a good team, but I think Thapelo (Morena) could've scored and (Themba) Zwane on one-on-one there,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the match.

“It's too early to panic and we didn't play as we always play and we had two chances which we could've scored,” he added.

“Yeah, it's still early stages and (Jeremy) Brockie shows he wants to help us this season - he gave us a penalty and he is a good player,” reacted the coach.

“Good energy on (Lyle) Lakay. We just have to correct one or two things for him to adjust to how we play. He comes from an environment where they play differently. He will understand how we play,” said Mosimane.

“Lebohang (Maboe) played well in the five minutes he played. He showed something; that he is a good player,” praised the Brazilians mentor.

“Sirino... he's coming up well. If he continues to play the way he plays, he will be player of the season,” continued the coach.

“Can I ask who chooses the man of the match – is it the SMSes like in the Shell Helix Cup? What did he (Billiat) do?,” quizzed Mosimane.
