The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has found Orlando Pirates guilty for the role played by their fans during the team's 6-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in February 2017.
Pirates fans vented their anger at the entire team by invading the pitch after 82 minutes, forcing match officials to stop the game for almost an hour before resumption.
The league released a statement confirming that the Sea Robbers were found guilty of spectator misbehaviour.
However, the Diciplinary Committee will reconvene in 2018 to impose a sanction on Pirates.
Meanwhile, the charges against Sundowns, who were the hosts on the day, will be heard in January 2018, the league said.
"The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee has released its ruling on the matter involving Orlando Pirates and spectator misbehaviour‚” said the statement.
"The League had charged Orlando Pirates with contravening Rule 54 of the NSL Handbook (Rules) following acts of hooliganism by a section of supporters during the Absa Premiership fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates on 11 February 2017 where some fans invaded the pitch," reads the statement.
"The PSL Disciplinary Committee found Orlando Pirates guilty. The DC will reconvene next year to impose a sanction on the Member Club," added the statement.
"The charges against Mamelodi Sundowns will be heard in January 2018," concluded the statement.
