Akwa United’s central defender, Dennis Nya has expressed happiness at his debut goal for his new club after his 40 yards belter guided them to a 2-0 win over Enugu Rangers on Sunday in Uyo.
Nya who joined the Promise Keepers from Lobi Stars disclosed that the feeling he had as soon as the ball rested at the back of the net was indescribable and that he is thrilled that he was able to contribute a goal to his club’s cause besides his duties not to allow opponents score against them.
“I am more than overjoyed to score on my debut for Akwa United. It was an amazing feeling and it will remain with me forever. I had the chance to shoot and I utilized it. It was another feeling entirely as soon as the ball went in,” Nya told Goal.
“I joined Akwa United at the beginning of the pre-season after I scored against them last season in Makurdi in a league game. It was my only goal of last season but I have started this season impressively scoring in my first game. It feels great to score for my new team.
“We have devoted lots of time to having shooting practice sessions and I am happy that our efforts have not been in vain. I will continue to do my best to help my team and I won’t be setting any goal target for myself,” he concluded.
