Thika United coach Nicholas Muyoti has lauded his charges for a good display that led to victory against Ushuru in relegation-promotion play-off.
Musa Saad opened the scoring for the milkmen before Mohammed Hassan made things even; with the match headed for a one all draw, Nigerian Onwudi Chibueze grabbed a late winner to give his side a slim advantage ahead of the second leg.
Muyoti is happy with the fighting spirit by his team and is optimistic the second leg will be better. "It definitely was not going to be an easy match for us, but I am happy we pulled through and won the first leg, but not convincingly as we wanted. The players did everything considering we had trained for a day, and ended up getting victory.
"The second leg is definitely going to be tougher, we have to ensure we double our efforts and get a result that will enable us stay in the top tier,” Muyoti told Goal.
The second leg will be played at Narok Stadium this Sunday at 3.00pm.
