After Sunday's league encounter, the Magpies winger ignored the Gabon international’s friendly gesture

Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has apologised to Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for snubbing him after Sunday’s Premier League game.

Rafa Benitez’s side defeated the Gunners 2-1 with Ritchie scoring the winning goal after Ayoze Perez cancelled out Alexandre Lacezette’s opener at the St. James’ Park.

At the end of the encounter, the Gabon international, on parade from start to finish, was blanked after approaching the Scotland international for a high five.

In response to the incident, the 28-year-old tendered an apology for his action, claiming it was unintended.

“I can only apologise. Honestly, I didn’t see him there in the corner of my eye even though in the video it looks like I did,” Ritchie told TalkSport.

“I was focused on Ayoze and I was waiting for Ayoze to congratulate him. It was not intentional.”

Aubameyang has been involved in eight goals in as many Premier League games since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in January.
