Morgan Mammila resigns as Chippa United CEO

Mammila left Baroka for Chippa United not so long ago, but he's now resigned on the back of the team's Nedbank Cup loss to Kaizer Chiefs

Morgan Mammila has officially resigned as chief executive officer (CEO) of Chippa United with immediate effect.

The football administrator took to his official Twitter account to announce his departure from the Chilli Boys without disclosing the reason behind it.

Mammila joined Chippa almost four months ago after years of service at Baroka as he was hoping to help the management run the team better.

However, he decided to end his relationship with Chippa, thanking club owner Siviwe Mpengesi, the technical team as well as the supporters during his short stint.

Reports suggest that Mammila could be heading back to Baroka, where he resigned soon after their Telkom Knockout Cup triumph late last year.

Mammila is yet to reveal his future plans, perhaps to allow the public to digest news of his resignation from the Chilli Boys.

While Chippa United improved on the pitch soon after Mammila's appointment, the club is still in danger of being relegated to the National First Division (NFD).

They recently crashed out of the Nedbank Cup following their semi-final loss to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

It is unclear if Mammila would have stayed had Chippa booked their place in the Nedbank Cup final which will now be between TS Galaxy and Amakhosi at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on May 18.
