Micho dedicated the team's win to the Bucs fans as they returned to winning ways having lost to Ajax Cape Town before facing the Team of Choice

Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic was pleased with his charges' performance against Maritzburg United on Saturday night.

The Buccaneers secured a 2-1 win over the Team of Choice in a PSL match at the Orlando Stadium thanks to two goals from Thabiso Kutumela and Happy Jele.

“Very important three points against a very good competitive team. This is our third match in seven days instead of going up and down with them in an endurance game, we wanted to keep the possession. They are a team that had nine or ten players behind the ball and very dangerous in transition when they have the ball its very hard to play,” Sredojevic told the media after the game.

The victory took Pirates to second spot on the league standings - they are five points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who beat Cape Town City 1-0 on Friday night.

“I’m very happy that the boys threw everything on the field whatever they’ve done in free-kicks and corner kicks we have done in training. Once more football has shown that a 2-0 lead is a very dangerous score-line it makes you think you have something but on the other side you have nothing. 2-1 down [up] it was nervy in the end but I forgive the players because every match is a lesson,” he continued.

“I’m absolutely proud. We as football people we needed the medicine that happened to us on Wednesday we are sorry to the supporters because we had the performance but did not get the result, we conceded three goals. It was a punch into the minds of our players,” the Serbian added.

"It was not easy to lift them up mentally to be strong and have that never say die attitude, to be physically fit as it is the third game in seven games. I think against one of the most physical sides in the league we have shown that we can play. I thank the players and everyone at the club,” he concluded.
