Mahrez, Slimani, Amartey miss Leicester City’s pre-season training

Algeria internationals Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and Ghana’s Daniel Amartey missed Leicester City’s pre-season training on Monday.

Despite not playing at the 2018 World Cup, the trio were the only notable absentees from the club’s first off-season gathering at the club's training ground.

According to reports, the Foxes have extended the vacation of players who played for their countries after June 2.

Mahrez and Slimani featured in Algeria’s 3-0 loss to Portugal on June 7 while Amartey played in the Black Stars’ 2-2 draw against Iceland on the same day.

Nigeria’s Wilfried Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Tunisia’s Yohan Benalouane have extended break following their elimination at the 2018 World Cup.

Slimani and Amartey are expected to join Claude Puel’s side for their training camp in France next week while Mahrez has been left out as he reportedly nears his switch to Manchester City.
