Wellington snare NPL midfielder


Phoenix have brought in Sydney Olympic star Max Burgess - who impressed during a recent friendly between the two teams.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder made one appearance for Sydney FC in 2014 and five with Newcastle Jets during the following season.

Wellington coach Mark Rudan believes the team have snared a player who has significant development to come.

''He has tasted A-League experience before but I feel that he has plenty more to show," Rudan said.

''We have the perfect environment for him to develop and show that true potential he holds."
