Amakhosi fans would be pleased with the news that Castro has received his paperwork and he's ready to make his debut for the club

Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro is in line to make his official debut for the club against Baroka on Sunday afternoon.

The South American marksman received his work permit on Thursday afternoon after having to wait for almost two weeks for it.

He missed Amakhosi's previous match against Polokwane City last weekend due to paperwork.

Earlier this week, Steve Komphela admitted that he was desperate to get Castro onto the field, given his team's struggles in front of goal this season.

In Castro's absence, Komphela fielded Ryan Moon alongside Gustavo Paez last weekend, and the former opened his account for the campaign with a well-taken header to help Chiefs win 2-1 on the night.

It is unclear if Komphela will ring the changes to accomodate Castro for the Baroka game in Polokwane.

Castro only joined his new teammates on trainining on the 9th of January, and his level of fitness could be the only issue standing between him and his official debut for the Glamour Boys at this stage.

With Chiefs having only scored 15 goals in the league this season, Castro's availability will come as a huge boost for their striking department.

He proved to be one of the reliable strikers in the league upon his arrival from Colombia two years ago.

During his time with the Brazilians, Castro scored 16 goals in 62 official appearances. He also managed eight assists in the process.

Castro last scored in March 2017, but his lack of game time under Pitso Mosimane in his final year with the club, was a major contributing factor for this dismal record.
