The West Africans last appeared at the world sports gathering in Athens in 2004, and have endured several disappointing qualification campaigns in recent times.
The hiatus could very well end at the next event in Tokyo, Japan, as Ibrahim Tanko's outfit are close to securing qualification for the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, which will serve as the final African qualifier for the Olympics.
“We will qualify for the Olympics," Leganes loanee Owusu, who is the current joint-top scorer in the African qualifiers with four goals, said on Atinka FM.
"I am very confident. You can see how we are playing. And we have a very good team.
“It’s been a while we made it to the Olympic Games, so we are determined to make it this time around.”
Ghana, having beaten Togo and Gabon earlier in the qualifiers, are set to slug it out with Algeria in the third and final round.
The top three teams in Egypt will secure automatic tickets to represent Africa at the Olympics.
