Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that the Senegal international has committed to fresh terms after seeing several bids knocked back

Chelsea and Manchester United will need to look elsewhere for a new centre-half after seeing Kalidou Koulibaly commit to a new five-year contract at Napoli.

The Senegal international has been targeted by Premier League clubs for some time, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all credited with holding an interest in the past.

He will, however, be staying put this summer after penning fresh terms in Italy.

De Laurentiis is delighted to have got a deal over the line, with three clubs having put €90 million (£80m/$104m) offers on the table for the highly-rated 27-year-old.

He told Sky Sport Italia: “Koulibaly, who is the best in his role, has renewed with us for the next five years.

“We said no to a €90m offer for him, there were three teams ready to take him.”

De Laurentiis also revealed that long-serving midfielder Marek Hamsik will be sticking with Napoli despite much talk of a potential move to Asia.

While ruling out possible outgoings, a new arrival has been lined up as an agreement has been reached with Lille for defender Kevin Malcuit.

“True! He’ll arrive on a permanent transfer, €12m plus bonuses for a total of €13m (£12m/$15m),” said De Laurentiis.

The Napoli supremo, who has also taken charge of Serie D side Bari, went on to add on the rumours linking his side with a move for a goalkeeper who shone for Mexico at World Cup 2018.

He said: “As for Guillermo Ochoa, we were with his agents and I hope for arrivals, but there’s been a lot to do in the past two days because Napoli is in my heart and now I have to rebuild Bari without even seeing… Bari will never take time from Napoli though.”
