Two assists from Japanese star Keisuke Honda weren't enough to seal a Melbourne Victory comeback as an injury-time strike handed Perth Glory a dramatic 3-2 win.
Glory found themselves ahead after just eight minutes at AAMI Park as Joel Chianese tapped home after a scramble inside the box saw the ball squeeze out fortuitously to the attacker.
Constricting Victory in midfield, Perth would find a second in the 23rd minute through Andy Keogh, who chipped Lawrence Thomas brilliantly with his first touch after benefiting from a defensive mix-up.
A clinical 45 minutes from Glory saw them go into the break 2-0 up and Kevin Muscat with plenty of work to do at half-time.
Whatever the Victory coach said at the interval worked wonders for his side however as they pegged a goal back in the 47th minute after a long-range effort from Terry Antonis hit the post and went in after a neat pass from Honda.
The Japanese star would nearly pull his side level in the 68th minute only for Liam Reddy to make a fine diving save after a strong shot from the top of the box.
Minutes later the Glory keeper would then collide heavily with Victory defender Georg Niedermeier, who needed to be replaced after being left grounded for a few minutes.
With full-time looming, Honda would play provider once again as Storm Roux headed home a pin-point corner in the 86th minute.
Despite being on the back foot, Perth somehow found a winner deep into injury-time as Chris Ikonomidis arrived in the box at the right time to rifle home a loose ball.
That strike handing Victory consecutive losses to start their season and proving Tony Popovic's Glory aren't going to lay down easily this season.

A game to forget for: Georg Niedermeier
The Victory defender may well not remember this game after a heavy collision with Reddy and it could be for the best with the German off the pace against Perth.
