Kano Pillars chairman, Tukur Babangida has confirmed that Nigeria Professional Football League's leading marksman, Junior Lokosa will be off to Bulgaria to have his medical and fitness tests with Ludogorets.

The administrator said he decided to set the record straight due to insinuations in the section of the media that the player was embarking on a trial abroad.

Kano Pillars (are) only allowing him to go for medical and fitness tests. He is not going to have a trial,” Babangida told the media.

“You should know the mentality of Nigerian players once they are contacted by any European club. They and their agents will put pressure on you to allow them to go and if you say no, they will be thinking otherwise.

“Transfer opens in June (transfer opens actually in July) in Europe and if he cannot go in June, then he has to wait until January. He has his options but he has no guarantees that he can get a club in January depending on his performance.”

Babangida further added that with clubs from countries like Sudan, Algeria, Serbia, and Bulgaria asking for his signature it has become increasingly difficult convincing him to stay until a later date.

“Presently many clubs are looking for him which include clubs in Sudan, Algeria, Serbia, Bulgaria and you know the mentality of Nigerian players once they have clubs sprawling for them like this. We want the best for him and we are monitoring the situation to ensure that everything works according to how we have planned it.”

Lokosa has been in hot form since the start of the domestic league season in January with 18 goals in only 20 matches including a brace he netted on Sunday night in Kano Pillars 3-1 home win over Katsina United.

He is trying to negotiate a move to Ludogorets who have won 11 league titles since 2011when they gained promotion to the top-flight for the first time and they have also lifted two Bulgarian Cups and two Supercups in the last six years.
