Kane netted a hat-trick against Panama while Stones and Lukaku bagged braces as England and Belgium ran out comfortable winners on the weekend

The group stage of the 2018 World Cup is fast approaching its conclusion, much to the chagrin of millions around the globe.

The second round of matches were chocked full of goals, gaffes and talking points, with a number of groups finely poised as the last 16 draws near.

A few teams gave a much better account of themselves after falling short in their opening fixtures, with some of the world's elite stars stepping up to help their countries qualify for the knockout rounds or simply keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Harry Kane, the hero of England's first match against Tunisia, continued his rich vein of form with a slightly fortunate hat-trick against Panama on Sunday.

Two marvellous penalties and a lucky ricochet from a Ruben Loftus-Cheek effort saw Tottenham's talisman become only the third England player to plunder a hat-trick at a World Cup, and his performance against the overly aggressive Central Americans earned him a remarkable score of 94/100 on the Goal Pressure Index, presented by Sure and powered by Opta, with his place in Sure's Team of the Week not up for debate.

England's skipper is joined by his teammate John Stones, who scored an impressive 88/100 courtesy of his unexpected brace. The Manchester City centre-back didn't have to do an awful lot of defensive work in truth, but his ability to free himself from the deathly grip of Panama's defenders and nod home twice ensured him of a place in the TOTW.

The Three Lions made sure of the three points during the first half against Panama, while Romelu Lukaku ensured that Belgium were also home and hosed before the interval. Manchester United's leading man showcased his lethal finishing with two fine strikes against a rather woeful Tunisia, earning himself a score of 93/100 in the process.
