Kaizer Chiefs star George Maluleka has explained his recent absence after he missed the clash against AmaZulu.
Amakhosi breezed past Usuthu 2-0 registering their third win on the trot without the services of the midfielder.
Maluleka has seen his career slightly stagnate of late as he has battled with injuries. Despite only making his return to action two weeks ago against Free State Stars, many worried that Maluleka's injury woes may have continued.
However, the player has since quelled fears explaining that his injury was nothing too serious.
“I had a grass burn on the side of my thigh, which got infected. The doctor advised me to take a bit of a rest to let the wound heal properly,” the 29-year-old told his club’s website.
Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys will look to keep the momentum going as they take on Highlands Park on Tuesday, and Maluleka is adamant that three points is a must in Tembisa.
“It has to be three points,” he added.
“Of course, I don’t take anything away from our opponent, but we want to continue our winning run,” he explained.
“Highlands Park are a good side,” he admitted.
“it’s always difficult against them, as they are fighters. They also have a very experienced coach in Owen da Gama,” he said.
“We just need to keep our focus and be mentally strong. We have now won three games in a row and that has given us a lot of faith. We want to build on that. We want to keep the momentum,” he concluded.
Although, Chiefs endured a slow start to the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, their recent form has resurrected their trophy hopes.
Victory against the Lions of the North could propel Chiefs to top spot should other results go their way, adding extra motivation ahead of the crunch encounter.
