Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly inquired about the availability of Ajax Cape Town's Prince Nxumalo with a view to sign the striker in the near future.

The 27-year-old is fast approaching the final six months of his contract with the Urban Warriors, and reports suggest that the player is unhappy at the club.

"We all know his capabilities and if he is treated well, he can be a lethal striker," said a Phakaaathi source.

"But he is unhappy at Ajax and has made it known to his handlers that they should look at other options for him. They have approached Chiefs and they seemed interested but nothing has been agreed as yet,” concluded the source.

Nxumalo, who also played for Golden Arrows and SuperSport United, has featured seven times for the Mother City-based club this season, with two goals to his name.

Now, with Chiefs desperate to reinforce their frontline ahead of the start of the second half of the current season, it remains to be seen whether they would be prepared to pay for his services or wait for Nxumalo's contract to expire before making their move in July next year.

Previously, reports suggested that Ajax wanted nothing less than R6 million to let the striker go, but none of his suitors came forward with concrete offers.

In 2016, Chiefs legend Pollen Ndlanya told Goal about his desire to see Nxumalo at Chiefs as it became evident that the club needed someone who can score goals on a regular basis.

Several high-profile strikers have been linked with Amakhosi in recent months, including Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat among others.
