The defensive midfielder has been attracting the interest of the world's biggest clubs

Borussia Dortmund’s talented defensive midfielder Julian Weigl is reportedly on the radar of the Manchester Clubs – United and City – but according to the Independent it is Jose Mourinho’s side who look closer to signing the player.

It is said that Mourinho wants a player to ease the load off Paul Pogba in the middle of the park, while also possessing the ability to build play from defence. Ever since returning from an ankle injury in September, Weigl has been doing just that.

This also coincides with Henrik Mkhitaryan’s desire to leave Manchester United, and with the Dortmund policy of re-signing former players such as Mario Gotze and Shinji Kagawa, Mkhitaryan might just be the next player to leave and it could ease negotiations, although by no means does this indicate a direct swap deal between the clubs.
