Ismaila Sarr scores worldie as Rennes snatch late victory vs. Jablonec

Ismaila Sarr found the target in a stunning fashion as Rennes secured a late 2-1 victory over Jablonec in their Uefa Europa League opening match on Thursday evening.

The 20-year-old forward powered the hosts ahead in the 31st minute after cutting in from the left to combine with Benjamin Andre before unleashing an exquisite volley from outside Jablonec's area.

Their Czech visitors, however, fired back in the 54th minute through Michal Travnik.

And with the game looking to end in a stalemate, substitute Hatem Ben Arfa scored a 90th-minute winner via the penalty spot.

Sarr, a transfer target for several top clubs - including Barcelona - after his inspiring World Cup showing with Senegal in Russia, has now scored three goals this season.

He was afforded 75 minutes in the game while compatriot Mbaye Niang came on after the hour mark.
