ISL 2017-18: Ex-Kerala Blasters man Mark Sifneos in advance talks with FC Goa

FC Goa are very close to pulling off a transfer coup of sorts by signing Dutch striker Mark Sifneos, who was very recently released by Kerala Blasters, Goal can confirm.

As Goal revealed, The Gaurs have decided to part ways with Spanish striker Adrian Colunga and have opted to approach the Dutchman who fell out of favour with Kerala Blasters head coach David James and was released by the Men in Yellow

FC Goa were in talks to sign a Moroccan striker after deciding to end their association with Colunga but the talks did not come to fruition, which led the Goan outfit to turn towards Sifneos.

Sifneos left RKC Waalwijk and joined Kerala Blasters and had pointed out that Rene Meulensteen was one of the main reasons for him to make the move to India. However, following Meulensteen's exit, Sifneos was also shown the door despite being the joint top-scorer for the side.

The 21-year-old has four goals and an assist from 12 appearances and was the first player to score for Blasters this season. A statement by the club read then, "Kerala blasters and Mark Sifneos have mutually agreed to part ways. We are grateful for all his contributions to the club. The club would also like to wish him well for the future."

When Goal contacted Sifneos, the Dutch striker was unavailable to comment on the developments.

Will Kerala Blasters rue that decision remains to be seen.
