I'm good enough to coach Kaizer Chiefs, says Orlando Pirates legend Dan Malesela

Legendary Orlando Pirates defender Daniel 'Dan' Malesela believes that he is good enough to coach Kaizer Chiefs

The tactician is currently jobless having parted ways with Chippa United in September 2017 with the Chilli Boys struggling in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Amakhosi have been linked with foreign coaches such as Israeli Avram Grant, Englishman Mick McCarthy and Belgian Luc Eymael.

The Chiefs coaching job is vacant with Steve Komphela having resigned last month and he has since been replaced by Patrick Mabedi, who is a caretaker coach.

Malesela has stated that he has what it takes to lead Amakhosi with the club having their search for a new permanent head coach.

“Yeah, why not, I believe clubs sit around and look at coaches, and say ‘this one will suit us’," Malesela told Metro FM.

"If I start saying that myself it’s something else, but (coaching Chiefs) is not something that is out of my scope, or beyond my reach, I can do it easily so, I can coach Kaizer Chiefs,” he continued.

A caller asked if Malesela would send his Curriculum Vitae (CV) to Chiefs to be considered for the coaching job and he said: “The danger is particularly if you have played for Pirates. People say that he is a Pirates man, but I have grown out of that," he added.

"I am a coach and I only link myself to a club if I am coaching them, once I stop, there will be no links, just sentiments," he concluded.

Malesela coached United FC and Cape Town All Stars in the National First Division (NFD), before joining Chippa in December, 2015 as an assistant coach.

In February, 2016 he took over as the new Chilli Boys head coach after the Eastern Cape-based club parted ways with Roger Sikhakhane.
