Jese Rodriguez believes he'd be an undisputed starter at Real Madrid were it not for his 2014 cruciate ligament injury.

The 24-year-old striker is currently on loan at hometown side Las Palmas, and makes his return to the Bernabeu on Wednesday for a La Liga match against the Blancos.

Jese moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, but managed just one Ligue 1 goal before making a loan move to Las Palmas.

When asked by Marca what would have happened if he wasn't injured against Schalke in 2014, the striker replied: "I have thought about it. And I've never liked comparing myself to anyone, but I think I would be an undisputed starter for Real Madrid. Of that I'm sure."

The striker is off to a difficult start to life at Las Palmas, with zero goals scored and four losses endured in his four starts.

"I did not expect it and I do not feel good. We have lost all four matches and I have not scored a goal," Jese said.

"Things have not turned out the way we wanted them to, but I feel even worse because the team is creating really good chances.

"Let's see if we can end this streak, we have played some good teams and good players."

If Jese does manage to open his Las Palmas account on Wednesday, he has insisted he will not celebrate.

"No, clearly not. I owe Real a lot, they are the team that welcomed me, as a person and as a young footballer," the striker said.

"I owe them a lot and, out of respect and admiration, I wouldn't celebrate."
