WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Luke Devere made his debut for the Roar in 2008 as an 18-year-old under coach Frank Farina.
The assured centre-half quickly became a regular in defence and claimed the club's player of the year award in 2010 at the age of 20.
Unfortunately, DeVere moved to South Korean side Gyeongnam during the 2011 January transfer window - meaning he missed Roar's incredible period of success.
He returned to Brisbane in January 2015 and was rewarded with his first and only Socceroos cap in the friendly against Germany in March of that year.
A career-threatening quad injury kept the defender sidelined during the entire 2015-16 campaign, but he returned to top form last season during his 25 appearances.
DeVere will be in the mix for possible World Cup selection assuming Australia makes it and he keeps his body fit.
He was close to selection for the March qualifiers against Iraq and the UAE but a torn calf shortly before ended his hopes.
The Melbourne-born defender has proven he is among the best defenders in the league when fit, and if he gets through the season, Brisbane will benefit hugely from his stability.
And a trip to Russia may beckon also.
