Goal's Asian Player of the Week - India's Sunil Chhetri

The 33-year-old was once again in sensational form against Kenya in the final of the Intercontinental Cup...

India clinched the Intercontinental Cup on Sunday when they defeated Kenya 2-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena in the final of the four-nation tournament.

India had already beaten Kenya in the group stage with Sunil Chhetri starring on that occasion. The Indian skipper went on to perform to the same level in the final as well.

Sunil Chhetri was in inspirational form for the Blues with a brace on the night. Chhetri's all-round performance turned out to be the difference.

Chhetri gave India the lead in the 8th minute when he connected with youngster Anirudh Thapa’s free-kick from the right-hand side. In the 29th minute, he latched on to a lofted ball from Anas over the Kenyan defence before releasing a left-footed shot to find the net.

Ultimately, his performances helped India clinch the tournament and he is rightly named as Goal's Asian Player of the Week!

Congrats Sunil!
