India U16's Niraj Kumar has been chosen as last week's Fans' Asian Player of the Week, following his impressive performance in his team's 0-0 draw over Iran in the AFC U16 Championship.
The 16-year-old saved a penalty and was also named Goal's Asian Player of the Week.
India custodian Niraj Kumar was called into action early with a couple of long range attempts from Iran and was up to the task. Iran’s onslaught on the Indian goal continued as the half progressed with Niraj being kept busy.
He was not done. A foul in the Indian box resulted in an Iranian penalty in the 75th minute of the match but the sensational Niraj guessed correctly before pulling off an excellent save.
Also in the fray for the honour was captain Vikram Pratap Singh who was also impressive in his side's win over Vietnam.
But the fans made their voice count as Niraj received a whopping majority of the votes.
