Kenya President, Kenyatta Uhuru has sent a congratulatory message to Girona forward Michael Olunga after becoming the first Kenyan football player to score in the Spanish La Liga.
The 23-year-old forward who is a season-long loan from Chinese club Guizhou Hengfeng broke his league duck with three goals in his club’s 6-0 victory over Las Palmas on Saturday.
Olunga was introduced for Christian Stuani immediately after the restart of the encounter at the Estadi Montilivi before helping Pablo Machin's men grab their seventh win of the season with his efforts in the 57th,70th and 79th minutes.
And President Uhuru has hailed the Nairobi-born player for making history for Kenya and the Catalonia outfit in the Spanish top-flight.
Congratulations Michael @OgadaOlunga for making history as the first Kenyan footballer to score a goal in the @LaLiga; and the first player to score a hattrick for @GironaFC in the Spanish top league.
