Demba Ba to the A-League? Agent teases potential move

The A-League can now add Demba Ba to its list of potential marquee targets with the former Premier League striker in Sydney and seemingly ready to settle down in Australia.

Currently contracted to Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua until 2021, the 33-year-old's club season is over until March next year and he has quickly found himself Down Under.

Ba was filmed in Sydney on Tuesday by player agent Ante Alilovic, who teased the striker could be here to stay.

The former Newcastle United and Chelsea front man scored five goals across 17 league games for Shenhua this year as the club finished seventh.

It was a challenging season for Ba, who was the victim of racial abuse during a game against Changchun Yatai in August according to his manager Wu Jingui.

Ba first moved to China in 2015 before being loaned out to Besiktas in early 2017 and ultimately bought by Goztepe.

After a short but successful stint in Turkey, Ba rejoined Shenhua in June this year.

Whether that's where his future lies remains to be seen with Ba's timely in arrival in Australia set to surely spark some A-League interest.

Football Federation Australia still have marquee player funds up their sleeve and have stressed they want to land another marquee - preferably in January.

While not in Australia, Wellington Phoenix are in desperate need of a striker having now gone three games without a goal and were in talks to sign Michael Essien over the off-season.

Alilovic has been contacted for comment about Ba's situation.
