Dean Furman: SuperSport United can't think of the MTN8 final just yet

Matsatsantsa will hope to return to winning ways when they host Lidoda Duvha this coming weekend

SuperSport United may have an MTN8 final to get excited about, their focus will be firmly on bouncing back to winning ways against Black Leopards this weekend.

Despite having already beaten the Buccaneers this season, Pirates exacted their revenge on Matsatsantsa, earning an impressive 3-1 victory.

However, while the result does come as a setback considering SuperSport’s early form, influential midfielder Dean Furman is adamant that they need to beat Lidoda Duvha before they can even think about the Cup final.

“We have enjoyed our run against them but they are a big team, we can’t beat them every time,” Furman was quoted as saying by the Daily Sun on the back of their most recent defeat.

“We have an important home game against Leopards this week and can’t think about the final yet. It’s important to win that game to boost morale in camp,” he added.

Meanwhile, SuperSport were on a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions prior to their match against the Sea Robbers and Furman is hopeful that they will be able to rediscover their form as they look to build momentum and avoid the struggles of last season by beating Leopards.

“We lost our first match of the season and won three games in a row. We have big aspirations in the league. The run is broken – we hope to start another,” Furman expressed.

Although, the Tshwane-based outfit tasted defeat for the second time this season, they will favour their chances as they lock horns with the wounded leopards.

The PSL new boys were edged out by Bloemfontein Celtic at home, and SuperSport will know that three points will be imperative if they are keen on keeping up their search for league glory.
