Conte yet to be contacted by Real Madrid, claims former Chelsea manager's brother

Antonio Conte is yet to be approached by Real Madrid regarding a possible rescue mission at the Santiago Bernabeu, claims the brother of the former Chelsea and Juventus boss.

With Julen Lopetegui having fallen under ever-increasing pressure in the Spanish capital, another change in the dugout is being mooted.

A torrid start to the 2018-19 campaign has led to suggestions that the Blancos may be willing to cut their losses on a coach only brought in to succeed Zinedine Zidane over the summer.

As that speculation builds, various candidates have been linked with a position that could soon become vacant.

Conte, as a proven performer who has previously delivered title success in Serie A and the Premier League, is considered to be a leading contender.

The Italian has, however, received no contact from Madrid, despite some reports suggesting that he already has an informal agreement in place to take the reins.

Conte’s brother and agent, Daniele, told Cadena SER on the Real rumours: “Antonio is on holiday, he has not received any calls from Real Madrid.

“Yes, Real Madrid is a great team but there has been no contact.”

Conte has been out of work since severing ties with Chelsea.

He was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge over the summer as the Blues paved the way for Maurizio Sarri to take the helm.

They are yet to agree severance pay with Conte, and that could prove to be a stumbling block in any move made by Madrid.

The 49-year-old would, however, bring a track record of success at the very highest level with him to the Blancos.

He won three league crowns in Italy with Juve before repeating the title trick in England with Chelsea, while also claiming a FA Cup triumph.
